Dosing rules

• Take only the dose written on your label.
• One tablet in any 24-hour period. A second improves nothing and multiplies the risk.
• Let it dissolve under the tongue. Do not chew it, do not swallow it whole.
• Never share it. It was prescribed against your history, not somebody else's.

The interaction that can kill

If nitrates are part of your life in any form, this medication is not for you. That is an exclusion rather than a risk to weigh, and it is the single clearest reason the physician review exists.

Other things to declare

• Alpha-blockers, common for blood pressure or prostate symptoms, compound the pressure drop.
• Other blood pressure medication needs weighing alongside this.
• Certain antifungals and antibiotics slow how the drug is broken down and push levels higher than intended.
• Some HIV medications do the same.
• Any other ED treatment — never run two PDE5 inhibitors together.

Include supplements and anything recreational. A physician can only screen against what you actually disclose.

Who should not take HardRx

It is inappropriate for men taking nitrates in any form, men with severe heart disease, men whose blood pressure runs very low, and anyone who has previously reacted badly to sildenafil or tadalafil. Cardiac history carries weight beyond the drug interaction, because sex is itself exertion. This list is not exhaustive, which is precisely why a person reviews your case rather than a checkbox.

Side effects

Most of them are the intended mechanism appearing somewhere unwelcome. Vessels widening in your head produces a headache, in your face a flush, in your nose congestion. The small blood-pressure drop causes dizziness. Indigestion and lower back ache complete the common list, the latter reported slightly more often with tadalafil.

They are usually mild and short-lived. Anything severe, persistent or frightening means stopping and speaking to a healthcare professional.

Storage

• Follow the storage instructions on your label, away from heat and damp.
• Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
• Do not use medication past its expiry date.
• Do not use a tablet if the packaging looks opened or damaged.

Keep your own doctor informed

Erectile difficulty frequently shows up before a cardiovascular or metabolic problem announces itself more loudly, because narrow vessels cause trouble in small places first.
